How much advance notice do you need?

If you’re planning a long-distance move (out of state) we require a minimum of 2 weeks off season, and 4 week peak season. Off season for the moving industry ranges from September – March, and peak season ranges from March – September. However, if you have a last minute move please call us and we will check our availability. The majority of the time we will be able to make it happen!

Are you a licensed carrier?

International Van Lines is licensed by the DOT (Department of Transportation) as a carrier of household goods. Our USDOT# is 2293832 which you can also check on the DOT website. IVL also maintains a broker authority for household goods. If we do not have a truck available we will work with a select group of carriers to get the job done. If you have any questions on whether or not IVL is handling your move directly please let us know.

What is your cancellation policy?

International Van Lines will refund 100% of the deposit paid up to 48 hours before the scheduled pick up date. The refund will be in the method that you used for payment. If you need to cancel a move please email your relocation coordinator.

What are the payment methods and structure?

IVL requires a deposit to book a move date. The deposit amount is approximately 25% of the quoted amount and can be paid via CC, check, cash or money order. The balance of the move MUST be paid in the form of a cashiers check, money order or cash. The balance of the move will be split into two payment which will be 50% on the day of pick up and 50% on delivery. We will not accept CC for the balance, only for the deposit.

Do you offer storage?

IVL offers long term, short term and temperature controlled storage. We often run specials on 1 month of free storage. Please contact your relocation coordinator with any questions.

What happens if I have damage?

IVL offers insurance for both domestic and international moves. Most home owners insurance will cover a long-distance move, however please first check with your provider. If you opt out of insurance IVL will be responsible for limited liability coverage which will cover 60 cents per lbs per article. Our premium insurance does not cover jewelry, fine art, particle board or cash. IVL does not get many claims, however, damage can happen when moving.

When will I get my delivery?

Transit times vary based on where you’re moving from, to and how many miles it is. Cross country moves typically take up to 2 weeks, however, they can take up to 21 days. It is suggested that you speak to your relocation coordinator regarding transit times. IVL cannot guarantee a delivery date. Please keep in mind that this is moving and there are many variables beyond our control that can effect your delivery date.
